The educational institution "Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts" (hereinafter - BSUKI, university) was created on the basis of the Minsk Institute of Culture, which began to operate in 1975 in accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR dated 04.05.1975 No. 139 and the order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary special education of the BSSR dated 05/14/1975 No. 234.


By the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 662, the Minsk Institute of Culture was transformed into the Belarusian University of Culture. A large-scale reorganization of faculties and departments took place, as a result of which the training of specialists in new specialties and specializations began.


On October 27, 2011, the institution of higher education "Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts", the first among the universities of culture, 22 out of 53 universities of the republic, was issued a certificate of conformity, which indicates that the quality management system for design and implementation of educational activities in the field culture and art, educational work, training highly qualified scientific personnel, research, innovation and international activities meets the requirements of STB ISO 9001-2009 to the quality management system.


Over the period of its existence, more than 30,000 young specialists have received university diplomas. A highly professional teaching staff allows the university to prepare highly qualified specialists who combine deep specialized knowledge with a thorough humanitarian training. BSUKI has a high rating among the universities of Belarus due to high-quality scientific work and innovative educational activities, large-scale artistic creativity.

Key Achievement

The University is accredited as a scientific organization, and has a certificate of conformity of the quality management system. More than 30 thousand graduates received education that allowed to achieve success in the labour market. Scientists, prominent figures of culture and arts who spread, preserve and enhance the traditions of national culture, expand and develop the Belarusian ethnic and cultural space in our country and abroad are among the graduates of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts.


In order to improve the quality of education the University invites foreign specialists and teachers from leading foreign universities. In recent years specialists from the Russian Federation, USA, Israel, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, Ukraine, China, Sweden, Latvia, etc. have been invited to conduct lectures, practical trainings, round tables, and workshops for our students.


Scientific and methodological journal “Vesnіk of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts” is included by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus to the List of scientific editions of the Republic of Belarus for publication of the results of dissertation researches.
